Workshop 1: Lean Construction (9 - 11 a.m.)

The objective of this interactive workshop it to introduce participants to the fundamentals of Lean Construction and Target Value Design (TVD) through serious games and simulations. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a basic understanding of the need for lean methods on construction projects, as well as how implementation of TVD can greatly improve performance metrics of time, cost, quality, safety, and morale on a project. Participants can expect a lively, interactive, informative, hands-on workshop with exposure to simulations they can later apply to projects in their own organizations or classes.

UTSA Research Lab Tour (10 a.m. - 1 p.m.) 

 EB $50 | STANDARD $50

During the CI & CRC 2026 Joint Conference, Co- Located with the AEI | IRD 2026 Conference, attendees will, in addition to the enlightening and exciting technical sessions and events, have the opportunity to tour two academic and research facilities, the UTSA Makerspace and the UTSA Large-Scale Testing (LST) Laboratory located on the UTSA Main Campus.

UTSA Makerspace (The Main Campus Hub for Innovation and Collaboration): At the heart of The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design lies the Makerspace, a sprawling 17,000-square-foot hub dedicated to fostering creativity and nurturing ingenuity while providing students with the resources needed to fabricate their visions. Located on the first floor of the Science and Engineering Building (SEB), this versatile space is hard to overlook. An expansive assortment of 3-D printers and colorful print models line the walkway, offering passersby a glimpse into all of the myriad of resources available within. In addition to the print lab, students can access a fully equipped machine shop featuring a laser cutter, multiple welding stations, the computer numerical control (CNC) mill, and a variety of electric saws. These highlights, along with all the other available tools, comprise this space, which can only be described as an engineer’s dream. In addition to the machine shop, private meeting rooms, a computer lab, and a fabrication lab are also key parts of the Makerspace.

Workshop 2: AI In Construction (1 - 3 p.m.)

The AI in Construction Workshop brings together industry practitioners and academic experts to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming construction. This session will foster meaningful conversations between professionals and researchers, highlighting real-world applications of AI technologies currently driving innovation in the field. Participants will gain insights into emerging trends, future opportunities, and the evolving role of AI in addressing key industry challenges. The workshop will feature interactive activities, including product demonstration and hands-on session, designed to provide practical exposure to cutting-edge tools. Join us to connect, collaborate, and envision the future of AI in construction.

San Antonio River Walk Technical Tour (2 - 3:30 p.m.)

 EB $30 | STANDARD $40

Join the San Antonio River Walk Technical Tour to explore a complex project focused on the canals and flood control system of the San Antonio River Walk. Learn about the technical challenges of replacing large floodgates while ensuring a continuous water flow through one of Texas's most popular tourist destinations. Discover how engineers and construction teams collaborate to upgrade essential infrastructure without disrupting the daily operations of this iconic waterway. Gain insights into flood control engineering, construction logistics, and the behind-the-scenes maintenance necessary to keep this famous attraction safe and efficient.

Community Service Project- Assembling STEM Kits for Local Children in Foster Care

(2 - 5 p.m.) 

 EB $30 | STANDARD $35

Join us to assemble STEM Boxes that will be distributed to local children in the foster care system. The STEM Box introduces kids to the fun of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, aiming to set them on a positive path for the future. It includes a lab coat, dinosaur dig, catapult, tangram kit, safety glasses, activity booklet, lightbulb cup, and a Waddle. Foster Love will help us deliver these gifts to the community in and around San Antonio, with their agency partners.

Foster Love is a leader in foster care innovation. Together with the community, they advocate for children in care lifting their voices and coming up with solutions for the problems they face. When you get involved with Foster Love, you are part of the solution, bringing value resources to children who need it most. The foster care system touches every part of our society. When you look at any social issue, whether it is fighting poverty, homelessness, sex trafficking, the school-to-prison pipeline, educational inequality, children who’ve experienced foster care are represented in those groups in outstanding numbers.

Workshop 3: In- CORE Workshop (1-5 p.m.)

EB $40 | STANDARD $50

Program: The workshop will begin with a brief 15-minute science overview by J. van de Lindt, followed by 3.5 hours of hands-on training led by IN-CORE lead developer Jong Lee. Participants will learn how to chain algorithms for research, community study, and other resilience-focused studies. This includes developing your own Jupyter notebook during the workshop to continue working with IN-CORE on future projects.

Information will also be shared about the formation of IN-CORE user groups.

Instructors: John W. van de Lindt Jong Sung Lee Christopher Navarro Several additional TA’s will be on hand to assist throughout the room.

San Antonio Food Tour (2-5 p.m.)

Join us as we indulge in tastes from some of San Antonio’s finest restaurants. You’ll enjoy Cuban sliders while overlooking a stunning section of the Riverwalk. You’ll learn of one chef’s dream to introduce the Alamo City to the delicious Argentinian cuisine. You’ll experience a tangy twist as you watch one of San Antonio’s favorite dishes prepared for you right at your table. And of course you’ll get a sample of what San Antonio's best known for: Tex-Mex!

Our skilled tour guides will share unique elements of our city’s history along the way. With stops at city parks, local performing arts venues, and historical landmarks, you’ll come away with a deeper understanding of the roots of San Antonio and the direction of its future. Whether you’re visiting or you’ve been here for years, you’ll love the behind-the-scenes insight into the cultural heritage and culinary expertise in San Antonio.
